Tinted moisturisers are a thing of the past, and are being replaced by BB cream. BB creams originated in Korea and were brought to the UK’s attention by Garnier. The term BB actually means ‘blemish balm’ but is commonly referred to as ‘beauty balm’.
The Body Shop have recently launched two BB creams The All-in-one BB cream and The Vitamin E Cool BB cream which I have trialled and tested.
The All-in-one BB cream
…is part of the all-in-one range which includes face powders, concealers and cheek colours. This BB cream contains both community fair trade Marula oil from Namibia and Vitamin E moisturiser. The All-in-one BB cream comes out the tube as a white running cream and as you rub it in gives you a complete skin match because of the colour adapting technology. It also comes in 3 shades so you get the perfect match to your skin shade and gives you a bright, dewy finish.
Application: Best to use your fingers so you can get a streak-free finish but can be also used with a brush and sponge.
Courage: Light to medium
Best for: Dry/normal skin (if used with oily skin I would highly advise a powder on top!!)
The Vitamin E Cool BB cream
…used to be called The Vitamin E tinted moisturiser but has been rebranded to give it a ‘cooler’, more trendy appeal. It comes in one ‘glowing shade’, and contains vitamin E moisturiser (hence the name). The cool BB cream has a light mousy airy feel to it and feels very lightweight on your skin, as if you’re just wearing a moisturiser but gives you a matte finish. Another benefit is that The Body Shop will donate 50p from every purchase of The Cool BB cream to Teenage Cancer Trust.
Application: Again best with fingers for blending benefits but brush and sponge are also good.
Best for: Dry/normal skin (only advisable for medium tone skin as it is quite light)
